Police Appeal After Newcastle Assault On Friday 1st July

dn_screenPolice are appealing for witnesses following the report of an assault on South Promenade in Newcastle on Friday 1 July.

It was reported that a 19-year old male was assaulted by a man, described as being aged in his mid 20’s, and armed with a wheel brace, at around midday in the vicinity of the harbour. The injured party sustained serious facial injuries and injuries to his arm which required hospital treatment as a result of the incident.

Investigating officer, Constable Barnes, has appealed for anyone who was in the area of the harbour and who witnessed this incident to contact officers in Downpatrick on 101 quoting reference 487 01/07/16.

Information can also be given anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
