Police Appeal After Hammer Robbery In Downpatrick

dn_screenDetectives in Downpatrick are appealing for information following an armed robbery that occurred in the Fountain Street area on the evening of Tuesday 10 March.

At approximately 8.45pm, a man who was dressed in a blue weatherproof hooded coat entered a shop armed with a hammer. He made off with a sum of cash. A 19-year old female staff member was not injured in the incident but was left shaken.

Detective Constable John Bingham said: “I would ask anyone who knows anything about this incident to contact CID at Downpatrick Police Station on the non emergency number 101. Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
