He said: “I’ve always loved music. Since I was in P2 in primary school I have enjoyed it and started to play the piano then. I later joined the St Miguel Community Youth Band and played the piano accordion which was great fun. My interests in music include playing classical, jazz and ragtime. But I enjoy any type of music really.

“At the moment I have xa0ten local students and two in Belfast. I have vacancies for several more, so if someone is interested in starting lessons, just give me a call on 07542231280.xa0I take students in from primary school age upwards.

“Private tuition is really good for me as I plan to go on and do a PGCE at QUB and teach music. At the moment I am also the Choir Master at St Nicholas’ Church in Ardglass which is also a great experience.

“Beginners start at the Initial stage exam and once they achieve their certificate they move on to Grade One. Classes last for half an hour and are excellent value for money and affordable.

Two smiling students passed their Initial exams recently and spoke to Down News.xa0Erin Sands (7) said: “I am very happy to get my Initial certificate. Jason is a really good teacher and he has helped me a lot. I can play a few tunes and I am looking forward to learning a lot more.”

Seam Beattie (15) added: “I’ve always wanted to play an instrument and I can remember playing the tin whistle in primary school. But playing the piano is great fun. I just love the sound it makes. I’ve just passed my Initial certificate along with Erin and I will go on and do a lot more grades. Jason makes it easy to learn and I look forward to my lesson each week.”

Jason Magee said: “Parents can just give me a call anytime of they want to discuss getting their child into music. Passing a few music grades is really good for building their confidence and self-esteem and I would certainly recommend it.
