Packed Attendance At Sinn Féin Public Engagenent In Carrickdale

Sinn Féin MLA Chris Hazzard has described the packed out Public Engagement meeting at the Carrickdale Hotel organised by Sinn Féin as “giving citizens out there an opportunity to engage directly with the Party Leadership.” dn_screenMr Hazzard said: “This was an opportunity for the public to come along and question members the Sinn Féin leadership on our policies and direction. “Sinn Féin is the only party on the island puts our leadership up to this scrutiny as we believe that it is important the people have access to our leadership and deserve answers to their questions.” Education Minister John O Dowd gave all those present an assessment of the current political and economic situation. Sinn Féin MLA’s Megan Fearon and Mickey Brady MLA also contributed to the night’s discussions as Party President Gerry Adams TD was unable to address the meeting due to the ongoing Dáil debate and vote on the issue of Water Charges that evening in the Dáil. “The engagement tonight was informative, challenging, honest and frank. People are under no illusions as to the difficulties faced but there was a general consensus that the onus was on us as a political party and as elected representatives to continue on the course we are on in pursuit of our objectives. “Overall this was a worth while exercise and one that the party will be repeating on the future as we are elected to serve the people who vote for us and for Sinn Féin their opinions are paramount to developing sensible policies.”
