Sinn Féin councillor Pól Ó Gribín has secured repairs to a damaged bus shelter in the Drumnaquoile area.

The Slieve Croob councillor said: “I was contacted by a resident living in the Drumnaquoile area who were concerned about the state of the bus shelter.

“As a result of vandalism and neglect over a number of years the condition of the bus shelter had deteriorated to the point where it didn’t provide much shelter at all.

“Windows had been smashed and the shelter was generally in need of repair.

“This is a rural area and many people rely on public transport, including school children and older members of the community and in this winter weather they should be adequately protected from the elements.

“On behalf of the local residents I contacted the local council and Translink to make the case for this shelter to be repaired.

“Thankfully those repairs have now been carried out and I hope that the bus shelter will be left alone in the future and not be a target for vandals.”
