NSPCC To take On The Mournes

Sponsored this year by Wade Training, the 20 mile Mournes HACK traces its way through one of Northern Ireland’s most popular areas of natural beauty where walkers will be able to take in stunning view of the coast, sea and countryside as they make their way by forest, loughs, rivers and bogs. Jim Gallagher from Wade Training, based in Craigavon, Newry, Armagh and Down, said, “We are delighted to support the NSPCC in their efforts to make a real difference for vulnerable local children. Given that the NSPCC’s activities rely heavily on fundraising events such as this, we would urge everyone with the energy and enthusiasm to take up this very worthwhile and rewarding challenge!” Why not set the HACK as your challenge for 2011? Encourage your friends, family and colleagues to join this fabulous day out in the great outdoors and be a part of a valuable opportunity to support the NSPCC. The deadline to register is 3 September, so sign up without delay! Please remember a 20-mile walk is a physical challenge, and the NSPCC recommends people who register undertake some training beforehand. There will be checkpoints and marshals on route, with radio contact between all checkpoints and the control centre. The terrain is very varied and suitable footwear and clothing are recommended. The HACK is open to people aged 18 years and over. No pets are permitted. Once registration is complete, entrants will receive a walker’s pack outlining their start time and giving further details of the route. Participants can then begin collecting sponsorship pledges from friends, family and colleagues. The registration fee is £20.
