Northern Ireland Benefits Statistics Summary

THE Northern Ireland Benefit Statistics Summary is produced each quarter by the Analytical Services Unit (ASU) of the Department for Social Development.

The Summary provides an up to date and concise overview of the main benefits administered by the Social Security Agency.

Key findings include:dn_screen

*   At May 2013 the number of Jobseeker’s Allowance claimants was 61,020 and the number of Jobseeker’s Allowance recipients was 56,860.

*   At May 2013 the number of Employment and Support Allowance claimants was 74,190 and the number of Employment and Support Allowance recipients was 70,500.

*   At June 2013 the number of Incapacity Benefit claimants was 31,290 and the number of Incapacity Benefit recipients was 19,870.

*   At June 2013 the number of Severe Disablement Allowance claimants was 9,720 and the number of Severe Disablement Allowance recipients was 9,500.

*   At May 2013 there were 56,890 claimants of Income Support.

*   At May 2013 there were 262,980 people of working age claiming a key benefit.

*   At June 2013 the number of State Pension claimants was 302,080.

*   At May 2013 there were 92,360 claimants and 114,180 beneficiaries of Pension Credit.

*   At May 2013 there were 307,450 people over state pension age claiming a key benefit.

*   At May 2013 the number of Disability Living Allowance recipients was 193,790.

*   At May 2013 the number of Attendance Allowance recipients was 54,000.

*   At May 2013 the number of Carer’s Allowance claimants was 63,160.
