Dramability has been welcomed to the Down Arts Centre as theatre group in residence

At the Down Arts Centre, Dramability’s Aimee Rocks as Dorothy and Jamie Liddell as the Scarecrow are welcomed by Deputy Chairperson of Newry Mourne and Down District Council, Cllr Gareth Sharvin.

The new Theatre in Residence Dramability group have met up with Newry Mourne and Down Deputy Chairperson, Cllr Gareth Sharvin, in advance of their performance of ‘Over the Rainbow’ at Down Arts Centre.

Dramability, founded over 30 years ago and run entirely by volunteers, is now Theatre in Residence at the centre for 2023/24.

Cllr Gareth Sharvin, Vice Chairman of Newry Mourne and Down District Council welcomes Dramability to the stage as Theatre Group in Residence at the Down Arts Centre.

The main focus of the group is the inclusion of people with disabilities in their local community, and they aim that more than half of their membership is made up of people with a disability which impacts significantly on their lives.

Cllr Sharvin met Dramability at a reception in Down Arts Centre on Saturday 17 June in advance of their performance of ‘Over the Rainbow’.

Newry Mourne and Down District Council and community based drama group Dramability are celebrating a new partnership on the Down Arts Centre stage, with Dramability recently named Theatre in Residence.
