NI Housing Bulletin Released For April To June 2014

The Northern Ireland Housing Bulletin April – June 2014 is released.

dn_screenA report entitled “Northern Ireland Housing Bulletin April – June 2014” was published today by DSD.

The Northern Ireland Housing Bulletin is produced each quarter by the Analytical Services Unit of the Department for Social Development. This Bulletin contains statistics on homelessness, the Residential Property Price Index and new National House Building Council (NHBC) registered dwellings sales and prices.

Key facts include:

* xa0In total, 4,895 households presented as homeless to the Northern Ireland Housing Executive during April to June 2014. This is an increase of 155 (3%) from the previous quarter. The reason for homelessness category with the highest number of presenters (907) was those citing a sharing breakdown or family dispute.

* xa0The number of households accepted by the Northern Ireland Housing Executive as full duty applicants for the quarter April to June 2014 was 2,221, a decrease of 9% compared to the previous quarter. The reason categories with the highest proportion of full duty applicants were those citing accommodation not reasonable (28%) and those citing a sharing breakdown or family dispute (18%). Of those households accepted as full duty applicants during the quarter 215 were discharged.

* xa0During the quarter ending 31 March 2014, 266 (revised figures) new National House Building Council (NHBC) registered dwellings were sold, an increase of 15% on the same period in 2013.

* xa0The average price of NHBC-registered new dwellings for the quarter ending March 2014 was £140,100 which is an increase of 1% on the previous quarter (£138,900).
