Time for government action as Houses of Oireachtas support Irish unity motion says Conor Murphy
Sinn Féin Seanad leader, Senator Conor Murphy, has said that the Irish government now needs to take a lead on preparing for Irish unity following universal support across the Houses of the Oireachtas for a Sinn Féin unity motion.
Seanadóir Murphy said: “The Sinn Féin Irish unity motion was discussed in the Dáil chamber in October and in the Seanad last evening.
“I am delighted that both houses supported the motion and that the position of the Houses of the Oireachtas is now that the government must establish an all-island representative Citizens’ Assembly or Assemblies and a Joint Oireachtas Committee on Irish Unity.
Sinn Féin Seanad Leader, Senator Conor Murphy is calling on the Irish government to put the wheels in motion for Irish unity, starting with citizen’s assemblies, and including the PUL community as key members in the new Ireland.
“Furthermore the motion commits the government to produce and publish a plan towards Irish unity in conjunction with civic society and key stakeholders, and to engage with northern protestant and unionist opinions about the future of Ireland as Sinn Féin has done, publicly and privately, for many years.
“We want to be free to govern ourselves and determine our own destiny. That is what uniting Ireland is about. That is what self-determination is about. Without the right to self-determination for the people of the North all other rights are illusory.
“The unity campaign can be a great unifier among both the parties and the people who support reunification.
“There is a major role to be played by civic and community groups who will be central to winning the referendums, our global diaspora must be included as well.
“People from the protestant tradition are a vital and integral part of our new shared future.
“There cannot be a new Ireland that does not celebrate and include those from this tradition. They will be every bit as valid Irish citizens as anyone who sits in the Dáil and Seanad Chambers.
“We have an opportunity to forge a new relationship with Britain. It will always be our nearest neighbour, and the ties of family and friends mean that there will always be a close affinity with that country.
“Going forward it will be a partnership of equals, that is one of the lessons of the Brexit experience, significant change must be planned for and managed by governments.
“The Good Friday Agreement clearly identified where such responsibility lies.
“To ignore the process of change that is gathering pace across Ireland is not simply to stick your head in the sand, it is a dereliction of duty for any sovereign government,” added Conor Murphy.
British Secretary of State ignoring ‘exciting and energetic’ debate underway on Irish unity says Hughes
Sinn Féin MP Dáire Hughes has described the British Secretary of State as ‘burying his head in the sand’ on constitutional change.
On the Stormont Sources podcast Hilary Benn said a border poll ‘is a long way off’ and that no one is arguing that the condition for a border poll has been met.
The Newry and Armagh MP said: “While Hilary Benn may wish to bury his head in the sand, the reality is a live and energetic debate is underway on a new and united Ireland.
“More than ever, wide sections of society across the island are engaged in an exciting conversation about what a stronger and fairer Ireland could look like.
“A responsible British government would begin working with the Irish government to plan and prepare for future constitutional change.”
DoJ launches promotional videos for child victims of serious sexual offences
Sex abuse can destroy lives, create mental health problems and may even lead to suicide.
A series of videos designed to raise awareness of a free legal service for child victims of serious sexual offences have been released by the Department of Justice (DoJ).
The Children’s Sexual Offences Legal Adviser (CSOLA) scheme, delivered by Victim Support NI, is available to children and young people aged 17 and under who have experienced sexual crime, as well as to their parents/carers.
Service users can access free, independent legal advice until the start of a trial.
Justice Minister Naomi Long, who extended the scheme to children earlier this year, said: “Our goal is to make legal advice accessible for children and their families.
“Whilst the scheme has only been in place for a matter of months, the feedback from service users has been very encouraging.
All children are precious and deserve not to be sexually explolited.
“One key benefit of the CSOLA scheme is that free advice on the criminal justice system is available prior to any offence being reported, which will help victims make informed decisions and may make it easier to contact police.”
Under the Victims and Witnesses of Crime Bill, the Minister plans to introduce further legislative measures to enhance the legal advice available to child and adult victims of serious sexual crimes.
“The Victims and Witnesses of Crime Bill, which I hope to bring to the Assembly in 2026, will focus on a small number of high impact measures for victims and witnesses of crime,” she added.
“Provisions include enabling legal representatives for complainants in serious sexual offence cases to provide in-court representation during specified pre-trial hearings which would be facilitated by extending the role of the SOLAs.
(Emma Rose Duffy in the above video has experience volunteering with the NSPCC Young Witness Service and obtained a master’s degree in Children’s Rights, before qualifying as a solicitor in 2019. Working with the Children’s Law Centre, she promoted the rights of young people in the legal system, with a particular focus on mental health, prior to taking up the CSOLA role.)
“Research indicates that many victims either do not report or withdraw from proceedings due to fear that private records, such as medical and counselling, will be disclosed in court; or they delay therapy until after any proceedings have concluded.”
“The Victims and Witnesses of Crime Bill will also include reforms to the third-party disclosure application process to help protect Article 8 rights, balance the interests of all parties, safeguard privacy, and reduce re-traumatisation.”
Victim Support NI Jolena Flett, Head of Advocacy and New Projects said: We welcome this new service as we have seen how effective the support for adults is through the current SOLA service.
“Since launching the CSOLA service we have supported 275 children and young people, and their guardians, across Northern Ireland through a difficult process.
“Embedding the services within Victim Support NI means we are not only able to help with the legal aspects but also provide trauma informed wrap-around support for all their needs.
“We also welcome the Department’s ongoing commitment to providing this innovative and much-needed service.”
The videos will be available on our website, X, Instagram and our youtube channel.
This CSOLA scheme has been specifically designed to meet the needs of child complainants in serious sexual offence cases and is set to run for an initial two-year pilot phase. The new children’s service will run in tandem with the adult SOLA service until March 2027, when both pilots will be evaluated to inform the development and procurement of mainstream services.
Hinch Whiskey and Sustainable Packaging Businessman Dr Terry Cross OBE Receives Historic London Honourof Freedom Of The City
Dr Terry Cross OBE, the man behind Hinch Distillery and sustainable packing firm Biopax, was formally presented with the Freedom of the City of London on Tuesday 2nd December, an honour recognising his contribution to Northern Ireland’s business landscape, community life and international industry.
Surrounded by family, including his four grandchildren, as well as trustees, colleagues and friends from home, the Belfast-born entrepreneur reflected on his decades of contribution to Northern Ireland’s economy and third sector during his speech.
Dr Cross said: “Receiving the Freedom of the City of London is both a privilege and a reminder of the responsibilities we share.
“This honour stands within a long tradition of service, generosity and civic duty. I have always believed that business and community should work hand in hand.
Dr Terry Cross OBE is pictured with Trustees of the David Cross Foundation for Peace and Reconciliation. L–R: Rev Dr Stanley Gamble; Father Gary Donegan; Dr Terry Cross OBE and Rev Dr Bill Shaw OBE.
“I accept this award as part of a continuing commitment to support others, to build meaningful partnerships and to contribute positively wherever I can.
“I am deeply grateful to my family, colleagues and all who have encouraged me throughout my life and work.”
The Freedom of the City of London, one of the City’s oldest traditions, dates back to the 13th century. Originally granting citizens the right to trade, travel and own property, its privileges are now ceremonial, but its meaning is still revered today as it is awarded to individuals who have made a significant impact in public service, commerce, humanitarian work or culture.
Admission is granted following nomination by two existing Freemen and approval by the Court of Common Council. Modern recipients include leaders from business, philanthropy, science and the arts.
Dr Terry Cross OBE is pictured receiving the Freedom of the City of London, surrounded by his family, friends and colleagues.
Though recognised globally for his achievements, Dr Cross’s story is firmly rooted in Northern Ireland. Raised on the Antrim Road in north Belfast, he returned home after serving in the Merchant Navy and went on to launch Delta Print & Packaging in 1979 above a corner shop.
Delta grow into a major international supplier employing thousands across Northern Ireland, China, India, Poland and France, servicing brands such as McDonald’s, KFC, Nokia and Motorola.
When he sold Delta in 2016, he ensured the continued employment and future security of his workforce, something he cites as one of his proudest achievements.
Today, Dr Cross remains a major private investor and employer in Northern Ireland. As Chairman of Biopax, he is guiding the company through an expansion phase focused on sustainable packaging innovation.
As Chairman of Hinch Distillery, he has strengthened the region’s global profile in premium craft spirits, with the brand recently securing five wins at the Irish Whiskey Awards, adding to a growing list of international honours.
His philanthropic work is equally rooted at home. As President of the British Red Cross (Northern Ireland), he has championed humanitarian and community initiatives. Through the David Cross Foundation for Peace and Reconciliation, established in memory of his late son David, he has supported melanoma research at Ulster University, youth projects, cross-community initiatives and vital health interventions across Northern Ireland.
A significant donation of additional eye-screening equipment to the Children’s Eye Unit at the Royal Victoria Hospital in support of ForSight NI will take place early in the New Year, following earlier contributions that have transformed paediatric eye care regionally.
Rev Dr Stanley Gamble, Canon of St Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin and Trustee of the David Cross Foundation, said: “This honour is richly deserved. Terry’s work reflects integrity, compassion and a lifelong commitment to improving lives here in Northern Ireland.
“His philanthropy has created measurable impact, and his leadership continues to inspire everyone who works alongside him.”

His son Patrick Cross, Group Managing Director of Biopax and Hinch Distillery, added:“My father has always led with ambition and purpose. Everything he has built carries the hallmarks of Northern Ireland’s resilience, innovation and community spirit.
“We are incredibly proud of him and of the recognition this award represents.”
Dr Cross continues to expand Biopax and Hinch internationally, pursuing new partners, markets and investment opportunities. He also remains proud of Château de la Ligne in Bordeaux, the vineyard he has owned and developed for over two decades, now an established part of his wider business interests.

He added: “I hope the free parking initiative will bring a little Christmas cheer to shoppers, families and the district’s hardworking business community.
“Shopping local helps build community spirit, especially at this time of year,” the Chairperson added.
In pursuit of truly luxurious hair, modern women regularly try new products and approaches. Manufacturers now produce a wide range of hair care products, and salons offer comprehensive restoration programs, including the use of special serums, hair masks for damaged hair, and more. Treatments at beauty salons provide a truly luxurious effect, but can you achieve the same at home? Let’s try to figure this out and also consider the importance of premium hair care.

Salon vs. home hair care – what’s the difference?
When we talk about beauty treatments at a salon, we expect immediate results: women usually leave the salon with a renewed hairstyle and luxurious hair. This is the main difference: salon care is a professional procedure with immediate visible results, while home care is a maintenance therapy, the effects of which are noticeable with long-term, regular use of special products.
Now let’s look at the philosophy and features of salon care in more detail:
Performed by a professional. Beauty salon specialists are trained professionals who have the relevant certifications. They know how to work with various products, calculate dosages, and select products for specific hair types.
Provides a more active effect. Salons use professional products with a high concentration of active ingredients. This ensures quick, visible results, but requires a more careful approach.
Treatments are necessary once every few weeks, but everything depends on your hair’s needs and the treatments performed.
The ingredients in the products penetrate deep into the hair structure, restoring it at the cellular level.
The pH level of products can vary – alkaline, acidic, and sometimes it changes during the process if the cuticle needs to be opened or closed, but everything depends on the treatment and the goal of it.
The most popular salon treatments include hair reconstruction, keratin straightening, lamination, deep moisturizing, peeling, botox, etc.
As for home care, it differs significantly from salon care, but here are its main characteristics:
Long-lasting results. At-home treatments are primarily designed to maintain healthy and beautiful hair between salon visits. They can also provide results on their own, but this requires long-term, consistent use.
Lower concentrations of active ingredients. At-home treatments are intended for non-professionals, that`s why they contain fewer active ingredients to prevent potential damage from improper use.
Gentle formulas. These products are based on plant extracts and oils, vitamins, proteins, etc., which provide a gentler effect.
Balanced pH. It’s close to neutral to avoid disrupting the scalp’s balance.
Work primarily on the surface. At-home treatments smooth the cuticle, can seal the ends, and create an invisible coating to retain moisture and protect against UV rays, but they typically don’t penetrate the deeper layers of the hair.
Typically, at-home treatments include shampoo, conditioner, serums, masks, oils, sprays, etc.
Is it possible to achieve a salon-quality result at home?
The good news is yes, it is! However, mass-market products won’t help you with this. Consider modern premium products – they deliver results comparable to professional treatments thanks to a comprehensive approach, using natural ingredients paired with scientific development.
Among all the luxury brands, the following deserve special attention:
Lunesi. This British manufacturer emphasizes minimal product use and maximum results. The line includes a nourishing shampoo, conditioner, hair tonic, mask, and oil. The ingredients in these products work using molecular technology, penetrating deep into the hair structure, restoring hair from within and leaving it healthy, strong, silky, and manageable, just like straight from a salon visit.
Shu Uemura. This Japanese brand views hair and scalp as a single whole, and therefore practices a holistic approach in its products. They use rare plant oils and extracts, and the care line embodies a true hair care ritual; it’s no wonder it’s called Art of Hair. The products harmoniously combine Eastern traditions with Western scientific advances, ensuring effectiveness in every drop of products.
Oribe. Each shampoo, toner, and hair conditioner released by this brand is a perfect tandem of modern technology and natural ingredients. The company was founded by a doctor and biomedical specialist, and its products are aimed at actively stimulating regeneration, awakening “sleeping” hair, and healing from the inside out.
In short, modern luxury brands offer products that compete with salon treatments. The latest scientific advances, combined with natural active ingredients, provide precise hair restoration, increase its elasticity, and maintenance of health and beauty. Try it and find your premium brand for luxurious hair!
Bangor couple enjoy a stay at The Salthouse in Ballycastle courtesy of Caremark NI
Bangor resident Maurice Owens has had his wish come true for a break away with his wife, Jakki, thanks to a unique 20th anniversary celebration from one of the UK’s leading providers of home care, Caremark.
Maurice, who receives regular home care support from the team at Caremark NI, was selected as one of just 20 recipients across the UK to have a personal wish granted through the company’s Care for a Wish initiative – a national campaign launched to celebrate Caremark’s 20th anniversary.
Recent months have seen Maurice, who suffers from Parkinson’s and Dementia, admitted to hospital on numerous occasions due to poor health.
Maurice’s wish was for the couple to spend a few relaxing days away at the luxury hotel, The Salthouse in Ballycastle, on Ireland’s north coast near the Giant’s Causeway.
Commenting on their mini break, which took place earlier this month, Jakki said: “We still cannot believe how lucky we have been to receive a Caremark Care for a Wish!
Jakki and Maurice Owens from Bangor at The Salthouse in Ballycastle. They received a free break courtesy of Caremark.
“We have been unable to get away for a couple of years now, and this came just at the right time for us both.
“We enjoyed some amazing food at The Salthouse Hotel and were able to take a beautiful walk along the promenade and enjoy the views.
“Thank you to Caremark for the generous gift. We are still pinching ourselves! The Caremark team and the care they provide makes such a difference to our everyday life.”
David Glover, CEO of Caremark, talked about the importance of the Care for a Wish initiative and said: “It’s incredibly humbling to be able to grant these wishes for the people we care for.
“Every single entry we received was meaningful, and the ones we’ve been able to fulfil have been especially poignant. These wishes are all about the opportunity for our customers to have moments of joy and connection and create new memories that will be cherished.
““Making experiences happen for our wonderful customers like Maurice is a complete privilege. It speaks to the very essence of who we are as a home care provider — committed to enhancing quality of life, not just meeting care needs.
“This campaign isn’t simply a celebration of 20 years – it’s a reminder of why we do what we do. We’re here to support people’s wellbeing, dignity and joy as we all believe life is for living, not just existing.”
USPCA and Agriculture Minister Warn Against Impulse Pet Purchases This Christmas
With the festive season now upon us, the Ulster Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (USPCA) is urging the public to think carefully before giving or acquiring a pet as a Christmas gift.
The charity warns that impulse decisions made in the spirit of giving can too often lead to long-term harm for both animals and the people involved.
Pets are a lifetime responsibility and bringing a new animal into a home is a huge decision that should never be made lightly.
Each year, rescues see increased numbers of animals surrendered or abandoned after the festive period, once the novelty has worn off.
USPCA CEO Heather Weir said: “It’s so important that anyone thinking about getting a pet understands what responsible ownership means.
“A pet is not a toy or a surprise gift, they are a living animal that depends on their family for love, a safe shelter, care and nourishment, and lifelong commitment to regular veterinary care to thrive and have a long and happy life.”
Don’t make an impulse purchase of a pet over Christmas says DAERA and the USPCA. Check out the dealers background first.
Agriculture Environment and Rural Affairs Minister Andrew Muir MLA added: “Whether it’s a pup, kitten or rabbit, remember caring for an animal is a lifetime commitment which comes with very important responsibilities and goes way beyond the Christmas season.
“If you are thinking about it, I would urge you not to make an impulse purchases this holiday season.
“Animal welfare organisations such as the USPCA see a huge increase in dogs and cats being surrendered at this time of year and we want this trend to end.
“One option is to choose to adopt a rescue animal, meaning you can give a pet a second chance and provide the nourishing environment it needs to thrive.”
The rush to get a pet before Christmas can also fuel demand for dogs and cats from unscrupulous breeders.
There is a real danger in buying animals from illegal puppy farms or rogue breeders, who prioritise profit over welfare.
These illegal operations fail to provide basic veterinary care, and young animals may be taken from their mothers too early. Already, the USPCA has seen an increase in puppy sale prices since October 2025 on social media.
The charity is therefore strongly encouraging people to adopt and not buy, and to wait until after the Christmas holidays and to take time to fully understand the lasting commitment that is needed.
The USPCA has the following advice for those families who do decide to buy rather than adopt, and to think about the following:
Is ‘mum’ really mum? A tactic by illegal breeders is to use a healthy-looking dog in the place of the puppy’s real mum. A dog who has recently had puppies will show clear signs (visible teats) and have bonded with her puppies. If she seems wary of the puppies, she may not be their mum.
Check the address where you see the puppy is registered to the person selling the puppies. Unscrupulous sellers have been known to sell from rental properties that do not reflect the home of dogs and puppies have been kept since birth.
Check all the paperwork. Legitimate breeders will have a licence, always make sure you see the breeder’s licence number.
Check the puppy’s and parent’s medical records. A puppy cannot be vaccinated before they’re four to six weeks old. If someone’s advertising a three-week-old, vaccinated puppy, they are lying! Breeders should be able to provide written confirmation from their vets that both the mum, and the puppies have received all the necessary treatment at the appropriate time. Ask for the name of the veterinary practice they use, if you want to make your own enquires.

Trust in online casinos behaves a bit like the surface of a quiet pond. Clear at first glance, easy to disturb, and difficult to restore once disrupted. I have spent long enough observing this industry to know that players rarely forgive platforms that fail them, yet they remain loyal to those that create the feeling of solid ground beneath their feet. The question is not simply how casinos attract users. It is how they keep them.
A look through comparison resources such as Beste online casino shows that trust sits at the centre of player behaviour. People naturally move toward sites that make them feel secure, informed, and respected. The features vary from one operator to another, yet the principles remain familiar across the sector.
Clear communication and consistent transparency
Trust begins with clarity. Players want information that does not make them feel like they are reading a puzzle set out in fine print. They look for straightforward terms that match what the casino advertises. When a platform avoids confusing conditions or vague descriptions, it establishes confidence long before a game even loads.
I have noticed this personally when examining new operators. The sites that explain themselves clearly tend to feel stable. They offer detail without smothering users in text. They show licence information in a straightforward way and keep their payment descriptions easy to follow. These are small touches, yet they shape the player’s sense of the platform’s integrity.
Transparency also includes how casinos handle updates. If a system changes, trusted platforms notify users. If downtime is planned, they say so. The absence of surprise builds a feeling of reliability that players respond to.
Strong payment practices and predictable withdrawals
No matter how polished a casino looks, trust collapses the moment money moves incorrectly or too slowly. Reliable payment structures sit at the heart of every strong platform. Players expect deposits to be instant and withdrawals to be processed within a reasonable timeframe. They also expect the same method used for deposits to function smoothly in reverse.
Many operators now highlight fast banking options specifically to build trust. Instant transfer tools and verified methods reduce friction. They also give the platform a reputation for efficiency. I have heard players describe these features as the deciding factor behind their loyalty. They do not want chaos behind the scenes. They want a straightforward path for their money.
Casinos that provide stable payout routines signal their professionalism. They show they have the infrastructure to support consistent financial movement rather than improvising with each request.
Security frameworks that operate quietly but effectively
Players rarely see the security systems protecting their accounts, but they sense when those systems work correctly. Strong platforms use encrypted channels, rigorous verification, and monitored networks. They avoid intrusive demands, but still maintain a barrier strong enough to prevent breaches.
The most trusted casinos build their reputation by operating securely without making the process feel cumbersome. They employ systems that run quietly in the background while giving players enough information to understand why certain checks exist. It is a delicate balance. Push too hard and the experience feels heavy. Push too lightly and users begin to question the platform’s protection.
Authentication also plays a part. When a casino offers secure login options that match a player’s existing digital habits, it creates a natural sense of confidence. Many players are comfortable using verified banking methods, so casinos that support these options tend to earn trust quickly.
Responsible play tools that respect user boundaries
Players increasingly look for platforms that support control rather than encourage unchecked behaviour. Trusted casinos provide limits, time reminders, and access to self-management tools. These options are not presented as warnings. They are presented as part of the experience.
I have spoken with players who see these tools as signs of a casino that respects their autonomy. When a platform makes these features easy to find, it shows a commitment to user welfare rather than endless activity. That approach strengthens trust because it reflects the values of modern digital culture. People want freedom to play, but they also want to feel that the platform remains on their side.
Responsible play features reassure users that the casino is built for real people rather than anonymous statistics.
Reliable customer support that feels present rather than distant
Support quality often becomes clear only during a problem, yet it remains one of the strongest indicators of trustworthiness. When players send a question, they want a human response that understands the issue. They want guidance that feels informed rather than scripted.
The best casinos offer contact channels that respond promptly. They do not overwhelm players with lengthy queues. They keep their support available, visible, and grounded. A quiet sense of presence matters. Even when players do not contact support, they appreciate knowing it exists in a dependable form.
I remember testing a platform that answered within moments, offering specific solutions rather than generic lines. That small interaction shifted my perception of the entire service. One moment of clarity turned the platform from an unknown space into a reliable one.
A stable technical environment that feels dependable
Technical performance influences trust more than many operators realise. When a casino loads quickly, behaves consistently, and avoids unexpected errors, it creates a sense of structure. Players value this structure because it shows that the platform invests in its foundations rather than relying on flashy visual elements.
Smooth navigation reinforces that feeling. Clean interfaces help players understand where everything is. Features that behave predictably make the experience more comfortable. When the entire environment feels cohesive, players interpret that cohesion as a sign of quality.
This is why trusted casinos update their systems regularly. They maintain the platform rather than letting it gather digital dust. A stable foundation reassures users that the operator manages its technology responsibly.
Earning trust through long term consistency
Once a casino earns trust, maintaining it becomes an ongoing process. Players can sense when a platform begins to drift. Slowdowns, vague updates, or altered terms weaken the relationship. On the other hand, casinos that remain consistent create loyalty that grows stronger with time.
Trusted platforms behave predictably. They keep their promises. They avoid sudden changes that make users feel unsettled. They adapt, but they do so with clarity. This steady approach shapes the long term bond between player and platform. Players do not choose casinos purely for excitement. They choose them for reliability. The best operators recognise this and build their systems accordingly.
Trust is not a single feature. It is a pattern of behaviour. It is the feeling that every part of the platform aligns with the player’s expectations. When casinos maintain that pattern, they become more than entertainment venues. They become digital spaces that feel safe, familiar, and dependable.
Online gaming has become one of the most exciting and varied forms of entertainment in the current market. The internet has served as a connecting element, bringing together a host of gaming experiences. It has been so pivotal that it has served as a springboard and foundation for entirely digital innovations.
It doesn’t matter if we are taking a look at home video console games, free-to-play mobile games or the growing depth that exists in the world of casino gaming. Variety is often the lifeblood of any gaming sector; it helps to keep it fresh and helps to keep gamers engaged at all levels.
Variety in online casino gaming
Of all the gaming industries that are bringing scores of new Irish players online, it’s the rise of the casino gaming market that has shown the most promise. Ireland appears to be slightly behind the curve we have seen in the UK and the US, where online casino gaming markets have become multibillion-dollar industries in their own right.
Variety in casino gaming doesn’t just stem from the games that are on offer, although this does make up the most significant part of this argument. The best online casinos in Ireland offer a mix of contemporary features, including new gaming titles and payment options, and integrate the latest fintech innovations.
However, they also ensure they have a range of conventional table games, such as poker and blackjack, as well as more conventional slot titles that tap into a classic theme that’s closer to the original design, rather than newer video slots that offer an array of bonus features.
Because the online casino gaming sector is now so popular internationally, the industry does not falter in integrating the latest, freshest ideas. The rise of cryptocurrency across traditional finance and investing has also led to a surge in people seeking out cryptocurrency casinos.
Although investing in such volatile assets often carries a significant amount of risk, overall, the market has been pushing towards hugely positive landmarks, and given that consumer demand often drives the changes we see in gaming, it is not surprising to see this niche become such a large part of the new fabric of the industry.
Why variety is crucial in gaming
Casino gaming might be the clearest example of how variety is crucial in the gaming market, but we’ve also seen it in home video console gaming and PC gaming, and more recently in mobile apps. Variety is what keeps the industry pumping. It is global, 24/7, and you can find variety on a huge scale. You can spend $300 on a home video console game and all the add-ons, updates and special editions that come with it, or you can enjoy free-to-play mobile games with download numbers in the hundreds of millions.
We all have nostalgic games and memories that often revolve around a particular game or a cluster of games released around the same time. For me, it’s the PS2 trilogy of GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas. While remasters of these games weren’t met with the sort of acclaim Rockstar would’ve hoped for, it’s GTA V, the most recent instalment, that has captured the true essence of why variety is so important in online gaming.
Irish gamers access the same online gaming communities and experiences as people from all corners of the world. The market is not specific to Irish gamers, and those who play online on PlayStation or Xbox are usually battling players from around the world. The thirst for variety is universal, not just for Irish players.
As so many sectors move online, causing concerns and issues for those in the traditional high street, those who can master the complex world of online game design stand to make enormous profits, but the challenge is to develop ideas and games that resonate with a global audience.
Exploring the range of games
With so many different genres and gaming titles to choose from, we have reached a point of market saturation in online gaming experiences. Therefore, it is not just about variety; it is also crucial that the games do not bypass the quality or design elements that have drawn Irish gamers into these genres and ideas in the first place.
Now, that’s not to put all Irish gamers into a single collective. Yes, some will consistently look for new online gaming experiences, hopping between the latest mobile gaming apps and ideas, keeping an ear to the ground and listening to gaming influencers who can offer unique insights into the games that have piqued their interest.
Some Irish gamers are set in their ways; they’ll play the same video console games over and over again, completing them dozens of times, and if they are into casino games, they may just stick to a classic 3×3 slot. Despite the range of options available, it’s not a one-size-fits-all approach.
For many Irish gamers, it is about finding a designer, title or theme they like most, so balancing variety with ingenuity is often the golden ticket that helps game design companies flourish, even in an international market that is ferociously competitive.
Integrating cutting-edge technology
As AI and VR gaming seem to be the two bastions of future innovation, they’re quickly becoming a focal point for gamers looking to keep things fresh. As we mentioned in the last section, this doesn’t always translate into ideas that work across the world of gaming, and some of these ideas don’t resonate with Irish gamers.
For instance, VR gaming is expensive, and because it hasn’t experienced mass adoption, it’s more challenging to form gaming communities that understand how this technology works.
While Irish players are keen for variety in their online gaming experience, if it is costly and not widely available or accessible, then these are issues that can push people away, so there are other variables to consider too, even though these technologies are likely to play a pivotal role in the future of Irish gaming over the next couple of decades.
Summary
As is the case with so many innovations in gaming, there needs to be a balance that helps bring people on board, keeps costs low and has an appeal that can inspire mass adoption. We have seen it in casino and home video console gaming, though the early days of this faced the same teething problems we’re seeing now with VR and AI.
Ultimately, it’s about engaging experiences, regardless of their format. While variety is essential to keep things engaging and interesting, it is the quality of the final product that matters. Over the last decade, thanks to the best designers in the world working in gaming, Irish gamers have been able to experience the best of both worlds, and this is likely to continue into the foreseeable future.
