RGU Notes
Under-20 Semi-Final between Downpatrick and Warrenpoint was played on Sunday on a cool but dry morning in Newcastle.xa0 The delay in playing the game because of the inclement weather certainly had an effect on the RGU squad.
The sharpness and fitness they had been portraying in the previous games was gone. The fact they only registered 5 scores in the whole game more or less told the tale of missed chances and a lacklustre performance.xa0 But they are a young squad and most of them will be eligible for this age group next year when they will have another year’s experience behind them.
Warrenpoint emerged worthy winners with a final score of 2-13 to 1-4.xa0 The new under 14 squad under the management of Pete, JR and Roisin start their new season training on this Saturday at three o clock.xa0All players to report for registration at 2.45.
Set dancing classes have resumed on Tuesday nights at 7.30pm.xa0 Anyone interested in joining please ring Johnny on 07710369509.
For information about bookings for parties and club functions, please ring Brian on 07745496213.
This week’s Lotto numbers were 4,12,17,23. Six people had three numbers and next week’s jackpot is £2500.]]>

'I Elizabeth': A Clash Between Womanhood And Sovereignty
The Annesley Hall in Newcaste will have ‘royal’ blood treading the boards on Sunday 23rd January.
In the performance ‘I Elizabeth’, the queen in the play adapted and performed by Rebecca Vaughan and directed by Guy Masterson, faces a vital crossroads in her nation’s history. As a young monarch stepping from the shadows to unburden herself of her many troubles and reveal her innermost thoughts on marriage, succession, religion, war, and the challenges to her throne, she unfolds a complex and interesting character.
But time is against her. Elizabeth I was queen at 25, a political phoenix and famously unmarried, and was the most educated woman of her Age
Who was the woman beneath the crown? Using only Elizabeth’s words, solo performer Rebecca Vaughan explores the queen’s struggle to reconcile the desires of womanhood with the duties of sovereignty.
“Hairline“ described the play as “a moving, emotional and passionate production … a definite must see for history and theatre addicts.”
The Carrick Newspaper commented, “A performance worthy of an Academy Award Oscar”
