Ulster Tatler have been announced and a number of gentlemen and ladies from across County Down from different walks of life are in the running.
The competition is now open for the public to have their say on which people and venues, across twelve categories, are the most stylish, ahead of the glittering Awards party in Belfast’s Café Vaudeville on Thursday 10th February. xa0You can see photos of all of the finalists in the people categories online, as well as in the December and January issues of thexa0Ulster Tatler, alongside a list of the venues shortlisted.

Walker Welcomes Ballynahinch Library Refurbishment
on December 31st for refurbishment and the work will take approximately three months to complete.
The renovations will improve the accessibility and layout of the library whilst enhancing the service offering to customers. This investment will provide the local community with a modern library capable of delivering all of Libraries NI’s services. This work once completed will strengthen Ballynahinch Library’s position as a hub for reading, culture, heritage, information and learning.
However, the mounting public concern about the threatened closure of the Killyleagh Library – Killyleagh being the home town of xa0Sir Hans Sloan, the founder of the British Museum in London – has led to public clamour in the County Down town.

There are several potentially outstanding arts events to savour in the next six weeks or so.
Many are to be found within the pages of the Ultimate Guide, particularly in the section devoted to Performance.
In Dyad’s production, from last year’s Edinburgh Fringe, of I, Elizabeth actress Rebecca Vaughan will explore the enigmas and dichotomies of the young queen’s life using Elizabeth the First’s own words. xa0Unusually, I, Elizabeth can be seen on a Sunday afternoon in Newcastle.

LAST xa0year was generally a good one for visiting or touring performance events in Down District, most of which were promoted by the local Arts Centre, and early 2011 is looking quite promising too (of which more anon).
While naturally it was not possible to catch everything, this overview will deal with a selection of theatre, classical and popular music events seen and appreciated in the last twelve months.
