You can support the organisers of this worthy cause by coming along on the night. There will be live music by the great one and only Stuart Wilcox, and after the meal there will be a Mr and Mrs competition for the guests which always raises a bit of laughter.

The Open Competition takes place at Loughinisland GAC function room starting from 9am on Saturday (29th January). This competition is open to dance lovers and already there are entrants from as far as Dublin,Donegal and Scotland, and the scrutineers are from England.
Bernie Lenaghan, who is a qualified instructor and a member of Country and Western Dance Council UK (CWDC), currently runs a Line Dancing class in Owenbeg Bowling Club, Downpatrick, every Wednesday night and also runs Dance Den, again in Downpatrick, with a qualified instructor for the younger dancers where they can learn the skills of Hip Hop, Disco and Line Dancing along with all the different styles of ballroom dance like the Waltz, Tango and Jive and even the Latin American styles of the Cha Cha, Rhumba, and Salsa.
Glasswater Primary Enjoys The NIW Waterbus
H2O and the Wonderful World of Water’, made a splash at Glasswater Primary School on Monday 24th January with NIW’s travelling classroom – the double-decker Waterbus.
During the visit the children were introduced to H20, a water drop figure and mascot for the programme to help them learn about water and to understand the importance of water conservation. The children also learnt what can and can’t be put down the toilet through a ‘bag it and bin it’ activity, what NI Water does to clean the water and how sewage is treated.
Free Showing Of 'Dirty Dancing' At St Patrick Centre
Down District Council in partnership with the Department of the Environment’s Rethink Waste campaign are inviting residents of the district to a highly anticipated FREE movie screening of ‘Dirty Dancing’ at the St Patrick Centre, Downpatrick, on Friday 18th February at 7.30pm. The only thing they request in return is that you bring along an old glass bottle or jar!!
Ministers Launch 'State of the Seas' Report
Northern Ireland State of the Seas’.
The report, produced primarily by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) and the Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute (AFBI), is the first of its kind to cover the marine environment in Northern Ireland.
In introducing the report at the Belfast Harbour Commissioners’ Offices today, Environment Minister Edwin Poots emphasised that the production of the Northern Ireland State of the Seas report is a key milestone in documenting our collective understanding of the seas around our coastline.
Council To Investigate Velodrome Funding Failure
“My department did make a bid for capital funding for the Elite Facilities Programme as part of the xa0Budget 2010 process, however, given the constraints on funding the Executive was unable to meet this bid.
