County Down Churches Join In Support Of Friends
st Kilmore, Rademon and Ravara have chosen ‘Friends’ as their designated charity for 2011.xa0 Congregation members there have dedicated themselves to raising funds to help cancer patients and their families, fund important research and buy equipment, supporting the work done at the Cancer Centre at Belfast City Hospital, the centre for excellence for the entire country of Ireland.

The spotlight, at the moment, is on the Club Development Draw which is to take place on Easter Sunday night. Over 400 books of tickets have been distributed this week in the first stage of planning, with more to be handed out when the junior sections get up and running in March. Tickets are selling for £2 each and can be purchased from any member. The prizes are a 46” LCD TV, A 40” LCD TV, and a 32” LCD TV. Members are asked to make every effort to sell their allocation as quickly as possible.
Community Safety And Policing Partners Co-ordinate Plans
REPRESENTATIVES from the Down District Policing Partnership (DDPP) and Down Community Safety Partnership (DDCSP) met recently to discuss proposals for a future joint policing and community safety partnership.
Down District Councillor William Dick, DDPP Chairman, explained, “This is an exciting time for these two local partnerships as we have identified a number of ways we can work together and help improve efficiency and cost effectiveness.”
Also, Councilor xa0Micky Coogan, DCSP Chairman added, “Sharing the resources we have in the CSP with our colleagues in the DPP and vice versa means we can improve the service we provide, which will of course benefit the entire community.”
