THE trip by the Down U-16 Camogs to the Royal County was made with great optimism following the slaughter of Roscommon the week before. It certainly looked like the Down girls had picked up where they had left off as they came out of the starting blocks with great gusto in the fine surrounds of the Ashbourne GAC Complex.

IN a match at the Showgrounds in Killyleagh that had its moments of drama and excellent soccer, there were spells of scrappy play as both teams struggled for supremacy. It was a case of the immovable object meets the irresistable force. Killyleagh had the first real opportunity when left winger Lee Morrison made an excellent long cross to the back post which was not taken up by his forwards.

A large crowd attended the presentation evening of the McGrady Financial Services Junior Cross Country Series held in the in xa0the Assembly Hall at Shimna Integrated College xa0(Monday 14th March) to celebrate the success of the athletes who had competed so valiantly over the six races writesxa0Joe McCann.
As the athletes and their parents assembled for the presentation, they were entertained by a montage of photographs from the six races, expertly snapped by Mal McCann and Declan Rice.

SDLP Down District Chairman Councillor Eamonn O’Neill has welcomed an A&E services specialist, Professor Page, to meet the Downe Hospital Taskforce group set up in Down District Council to give expert advice on future services at the hospital.
Councillor O’Neill, who established the Downe Hospital taskforce group which includes councillors, GPs, people involved in local health care and health campaigners, said,xa0“Professor Graham Page is an expert in the field of Accident and Emergency services and we were grateful that he took the time out to advise us on what services we specifically require in Down District.
St Patrick Parade Snakes Way Through Downpatrick
THE St Patrick’s Day celebrations 2011 may be behind us now but the memories of the festival and parade in Downpatrick will be cherished for a long time to come.
The Saint’s big day was xa0once again a fabulous success as the huge crowds came out in their thousands from all sections of the community to support the events across the whole day.
From early morning Downpatrick was a hive of activity as local speciality food and craft producers set up their marquees in St Patrick’s Square, creating a truly continental atmosphere along with street entertainers and face painters, and the weather duly obliged.
