Sam Hanna Bell Remembered In Tribute At Down Museum
Tribute to Sam Hanna Bell in Down County Museum on April 6th was very well attended by a diverse audience which included several people who had been cast as extras in the film version of December Bride.
It was an event replete with anniversaries.
Killyleagh Library Book Still Open Say Campaigners
on’t Close the Book on Killyleagh‘ which took place on Saturday 2nd April was the culmination of the campaign to save the library in Killyleagh from xa0possible closure. Libraries NI have recommended that he library be closed as it has not met their essential criteria paricularly around sustainability. The building itself, owned by the South Eastern Regional College, also has significant issues regarding disabled acccess.
The climax of the ‘Save Killyleagh Library’campaign saw a great number of the children and adults from the Killyleagh area parade through the village showing their huge support for their local library. xa0They were supported by politicians from different parties and their message to Libraries NI was plain and simple: ‘our library was not for closing’.

Downpatrick Twinning Association AGM At The Mill
THE Downpatrick Twinning Partnership will be hosting it’s Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 20th April 2011 in Ballydugan Mill, Downpatrick at 7.30 pm.
This annual meeting will review the twinning partnership past year’s programme of activity with its town twinning partners in France, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Poland, Portugal, Romania and Spain.
New and current members are invited to attend this meeting which will also see the election of Office Bearers for the forthcoming year.
