th May. A new storm system is to be put in place with an investment value of £165. 000 that will meet current and future development need for Crossgar and will reduce the major risk of flooding in the village. The work will take up to six months to carry out and will involve some disruption on the road with Downpatrick Street and Killyleagh street with a Stop-Go board traffic control in place.
“This much needed and urgent work for the storm sewer system in Crossgar will, I believe, deliver the peace of mind that locals need and it is long overdue that the work has began,” he added.]]>
Castlewellan GAC Notes
* The Senior Hurlers finally got a game this week after having no officials turn up in the past few weeks. Some of their opposition in particular Portaferry travelled to the Town three weeks ago only for there to be no officials which is not fair on them considering their journey. No officials appeared for last Monday Night’s game. However, on Wednesday Night they played Ballyvarley and won by 5 points. A good result for Martin and the lads considering their lack of game time recently.

Ardglass GAC Notes
Games Update
The Under 14’s played out a fantastic game of football at home to Kilcoo last Monday evening, the game was end to end with the lead changing hands on several occasions, Mark Magennis was on fine scoring form contributing three goals from play while Caelan O’Shea scored three fine points from frees. Kilcoo finished stronger as Ardglass lost the influential pair of Magennis to a second yellow and centre half back Jason Curran to injury. Ardglass will look to the next few games to gain some points after dropping several in the last few weeks.
Rainbow Almost Tips 19lbs At Islandderry
Jim used the strong winds to his advantage by drifting the boat on the main lake and fishing Bibios, Green xa0Peters and Dabblers to rise 15 trout in 4 hours, 6 of which broke him and 9 landed, including the 18lbs 12oz monster and a lovely steelhead of 5lbs 2oz.xa0 With the recent strong winds, the Main Lake is fishing well to the traditional wet flies with Black pennels working well catching William Davidson 12 trout with most weighing around 4-6lb in weight.
Ryan Ferris, Banbridge, tried his luck on the Hollow Springs lake and found that black lures were doing the trick landing him 10 trout, inbetween hailstone showers!!xa0 Fishing partners Paul Turkington, John Beattie and Philip McKerr landed approximately 20 trout between them, and lost near as many, also on black lures.xa0 Islandderry Fishery is offering all anglers free catch and release on the Main Lake every Thursday in the month of June starting this Thursday 2nd June and running until 30th June.xa0 More offers will be run throughout the upcoming summer months.

Newcastle Bowlers See Red Without Green

The meeting was called by SDLP Councillor Carmel O’Boyle and was attended by over 40 bowlers, two council officers and SDLP Councillor Eamonn O’Neill.
Afterwards Councillor O’Boyle visited the bowling pavilion in Castle Park with members of the club.xa0Following the meeting she said,xa0“It will be almost two years before the installation of the overflow sewerage tank will be completed by NIW in Castle Park, and I very much regret the inconvenience that this vital work is causing to our bowlers.
“However, the meeting we had was very constructive I believe, and we all intend to use these two years to plan for the future of the bowling club.xa0We have formed one working group that is representative of the three groups that use the bowling greens and we intend to come up with a plan that will lead to the provision of a new pavilion and decent facilities in that area.
“Newcastle councillors and council officers will be invited to work with us to come up with a solution to the problems we have. I have to say that while the present facilities are simply not acceptable and are nothing short of an embarrassment, our options are limited in the short term because of the work that is taking place in Castle Park.
“As soon as NI Water move off this site, I want us to be ready to move forward with our plan for the future. I want to thank the bowlers who turned out in such large numbers to attend this meeting and am delighted with their enthusiastic response to the setting up of a working group. I have every confidence that we can achieve great things by working in partnership,” xa0added Councillor O’Boyle.]]>
