Newry Stabbing Being Investigated By Police

A woman was stabbed in an attack in Newry and local police are appealing for information.

A woman was stabbed in an attack in Newry and local police are appealing for information.

Police have been at the scene of a stabbing incident at a house in Liska Manor, Newry.

Officers received a report at around 5.30pm on Saturday evening that a woman had been stabbed a number of times at a house in the area.

Police and paramedics attended the scene and the woman was removed to hospital for treatment to her injuries which have been described as serious.

A search was conducted in the area of Liska Manor and a male suspect aged 38 was arrested a short time later on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. He is currently in custody assisting officers with their enquiries.

UPDATE: 11.30am – 9th November 2020.

A 38 year old man has been charged with attempted murder.

He is due to appear at Newry Magistrates Court on Monday 9th November. As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

The charge relates to the stabbing incident which occurred at the Liska Manor area of Newry on Saturday 7th November.
