Newcastle To Host Whale Watch Ireland 2016

Marine experts from Ulster Wildlife and the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group are holding a land-based guided whale watch from Bloody Bridge in Newcastle on Saturday 27 August from 2-5pm for Whalewatch Ireland 2016.

Grab your binoculars and join marine mammal expert Dave Wall, to scour the coast for dolphins, porpoises, basking sharks, and perhaps even whales, from one of the best porpoise watching spots in Northern Ireland.

“Whale Watch Ireland 2016 is a great opportunity for people to find out more about the amazing marine mammals that live in our local seas, and how to observe and identify them,” said Dave Wall, Living Seas Officer with Ulster Wildlife.

“If the weather suitable on the day, there’s a good chance of seeing some really interesting marine wildlife, from harbour porpoises to minke whales, whilst also helping conservationists obtain a snapshot of whale and dolphin activity around our coast.”

Whale Watch Ireland 2016 is an annual, all-Ireland event organised by the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group. Twenty events are planned around the coast of Ireland on Saturday 27 August, including three in Northern Ireland at Bloody Bridge, Ramore Head and Portmuck.

The event at Bloody Bridge is free, but donations are welcome. To confirm your attendance, please email Dave Wall:
