Newcastle Tesco Customers Spread Festive Joy

Tesco customers in Newcastle can spread festive joy by gifting toys this Christmas

Tesco customers in Newcastle have the opportunity to give new toys to local children who need it most this Christmas.

Until the 15th of December, Tesco’s Newcastle County Down Superstore is holding a collection for new and unwrapped toys for Home-Start Down District and Cancer Fund for Children’s Daisy Lodge, who will then distribute the toys to local children.

Home-Start Down District helps families who have at least one child under the age of five, while Cancer Fund for Children’s Daisy Lodge provide therapeutic short breaks to families affected by cancer.

A grand-father and his grand-daughter make a donation to the Tesco Newcastle Christmas appeal for Home-Start and the Cancer Fund for Children who will distribute the toys to local children.

Tesco Customer Engagement Manager Siobhan McMullan said: “It is a privilege to be able to help and support two local charities at what can be a very difficult time for the families they support.”

Over 800 large Tesco stores across the UK will have a dedicated toy donation point where customers can donate new, unwrapped toys purchased in store. Last Christmas Tesco customers donated a total of 125,000 toys, with the retailer looking to beat that number this year.

Claire De Silva, Head of Communities at Tesco, said: “Our stores are committed to supporting local children and their communities year-round, and thanks to the generosity of our customers and colleagues, the annual toy donation campaign is a wonderful way to make a difference at Christmas.

“It’s great to see Tesco Newcastle County Down Superstore partnering with Home-Start Down District and Cancer Fund for Children this year to ensure that every child experiences the magic of Christmas.”
