South Eastern Regional College (SERC) is preparing to host an employer information open day at their Newcastle Campus, Castlewellan road, on 25 October from 2:30pm-4:30pm.

SERC logoThe event will be an opportunity for local businesses to learn how they can thrive by up-skilling employees with nationally recognised qualifications, funded training and one-to-one mentoring.

SERC offers a range of free comprehensive business support services such as expert one-to-one mentoring, training and skills development, as well as access to expert business advisors for those considering starting their own business.

Attendees will learn about the Steps to Success programme which supports local jobseekers to find and sustain long-term employment and provides training and employment opportunities to give them the best chance of getting there.

Also on the agenda will be digital media, employment law, recruitment and funded training opportunities. Attendees will also get the opportunity to meet SERC Account Managers and learn first-hand about training on offer to help develop their business and upskill staff.

SERC Head of Commercial Contracts Elaine Flynn said: “We are delighted to be hosting this information day so that local business can open their mind to the huge opportunities that exist by collaborating with the College. We offer a wide range of funded training initiatives including Skills Focus and InnovateUs which they may be entitled to avail of.

“We understand how hard it is for businesses to upskill employees. That’s why we make it as easy as possible for participants by working with them to minimise the impact of releasing staff. It’s a real partnership. The affordability of our training allows businesses to benefit while at the same time managing cash flow – the complete solution for start-up or expanding businesses with big ambitions.

“We urge businesses to recognise their commitment to investing in training and the skills development of their workforce as part of their overall business strategy.”
