New Public Toilets Welcomed in Killyleagh

MEMBERS of Down District Council’s Disability Awareness Working Group and the Down District Disability Forum inspected the new public toilets in Killyleagh on Monday 13 August.

Chairperson of the Disability Awareness Working Group, Down District Councillor Carmel O’Boyle said: “The original public toilets were severely vandalised in 2011 and have now been replaced with the these new modern toilets.”

“The new toilets, reinstated using the insurance money obtained by the Council following the vandalism, are a much needed facility not only for the people living in the area but for the many visitors and tourists, especially those with disabilities, who visit this part of scenic County Down.”

Members of the Down District Disability Forum, William Keown and Joe McVeigh inspected the new toilets which both agreed are a vital asset to the area. Also in attendance at the visit were Rowallene Councillors Maria McCarthy, William Walker and Terry Andrews who were also much impressed with the new toilet facility  for Killyleagh.
