Nahinch Notes Music Wraps Up With A 2:19 Spectacular

Nahinch Notes wraps up with blues spectacular in Ballynahinch !

Blues behemoth The 2:19 finally roll into Ballynahinch on Friday 7th March after the band’s January date fell victim to the high winds of Storm Éowyn.

Riding high on a wave of acclaim for their recently released third album, “Keep My Will Strong”, the band promise to deliver a thunderous show to bring to a close this first series of the Ballynahinch Community Collective’s “Nahinch Notes” concerts in the town.

The five band members have only been performing together live since 2022, but they havexa0 already released three albums, and are no strangers to praise, having been nominated for Band of the Year at the 2023 UK Blues Awards, while their second album, “We Will Get Through This”, spent two consecutive months at #3 on the UK IBBA (Independent Blues Broadcasters Association) album chart and earned the band a nomination for “Album of the Year” at the 2024 UK Blues Awards.

Their newest collection, “Keep My Will Strong”, has continued this pattern of success, topping the Independent Blues Broadcasters Association charts again.

Don’t miss 2.19 in Ballynahinch on Friday 7th March at The Market House.

Variously described as “blistering stuff” (Blues in Britain magazine) and “visceral, real music delivered by musicians that genuinely enjoy what they are doing” (Rockposer Dot Com blog), the album has been named album of the week by a raft of outlets such as The Colourblind Blues Show and “Have I Got Blues For You” (Avondale Radio), while the Music News website said it was “one of the most interesting and exciting albums I’ve heard in a long while. Very highly recommended.”

After an intimate acoustic night with Kate Nicholson in February, this first series of Nahinch Notes concerts will end with the volume turned up to eleven in the Market House as The 2:19 tear through their set of blues, R&B, ballads and full-on rock.

Music News characterised their sound as having “a real swagger” where “upfront and strong rhythms keep the music rocking and Monty Sneddon and Marty Young are a terrific combo at the heart of the band.

They are also perfectly capable of making music that has beauty and emotion.

Chris Chalmers vocals are “a highlight of the band. Undoubtedly this concert will bring “some of the best blues riffs you’ll hear this year” (Edwin McFee, Sunday Life) to Ballynahinch.

The tickets to the show are free thanks to the support of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, and the concert is open to all ages. Tickets can be booked on the Nahinch Notes Eventbrite page.
