McMinn Wins Dunmore Cross Country MX Event

Cross-country motocross returned to Dunmore Mountain on Saturday, 3 November, when the Mourne Motorcycle Club hosted their latest winter event writes Stuart Campbell.

The track was in perfect condition for the event and with 56 riders taking part there was one race on the day, which lasted for two hours.

The Experts set off at the front of the pack with Saintfield’s Gary Bell and Crossgar man Joel Brown leading the way for the first four laps. Then on lap five Killinchy’s Paul McMinn moved to the front of the pack and led all the way to take the chequered flag. McMinn was followed home by Bell in second, Brown in third position and the three County Down men were the day’s pace-setters, as they were the only riders to complete eleven laps of the track.

Larne man Josh Caldwell won the Clubman’s class, after he had completed ten laps. He was followed home by Crossgar’s George McMillen in ninth, after completing nine laps, Ballynahinch men Josh Douglas and Dennis McMullan who completed seven laps, along with Saintfield men Tom Lecky, who completed six laps, and Philip Young on two laps.
