McIlveen Says £225,000 Road Improvements On Ballylough Road Near Castlewellan Set To Begin

Transport Minister Michelle McIlveen has announced that a Northern Ireland Executive funded road improvement scheme on the B175 Ballylough Road, Castlewellan is expected to begin on Monday 15 February.

dn_screenThe resurfacing of approximately one mile (1.7km) of the road in the area of Ballylough Road/A25 Ardnabannon Raod junction and Ballylough Road/Aughlisnafin Road junction is expected to be complete, with the road fully reopened, by Monday 28 March.

Michelle McIlveen said: “This £225,000 scheme represents a significant investment in the roads infrastructure in the Castlewellan area. Once work is complete, road users will quickly realise the long term benefits from the new road surface along the stretch.”

To help ensure the safety of road users and contractors the Ballylough Road will be closed Monday to Saturday between 9.00am and 4.30 pm for the duration of the scheme.

Well signed diversions will be in place via A25 Ardnabannon Road/ Castlewellan Road, A24 Newcastle Road/Drumaness Road and the B175 Spa Road/Dunmore Road/Edendarriff Road/Ballylough Road.

TransportNI has planned the delivery of the improvements to keep disruption to a minimum, however, delays should be expected and drivers are advised to allow additional time when travelling in the area.

As with all improvements of this nature extreme weather can impact on the completion date. TransportNI will advise the public of any unexpected change to the schedule.
