McGrath Says Series Of Accidents Highlights Need For Extra Care On Roads

dn_screenDownpatrick SDLP Councillor Colin McGrath has urged people to be extra careful on the roads over Christmas after a series of collisions on the Ballydugan Road near the town.

Cllr McGrath said: “There were a number of accidents on the main Newcstle road route outside Downpatrick today and the road was exceptionally busy with holiday traffic “With overnight heavy rain and winds combined with an increase in traffic flow, I would urge extra caution on our roads this Christmas time. I hope that all of those injured in these accidents today have a full recovery. “I have also asked Roads Service to carry out an emergency check of this road to ensure that there is nothing structurally wrong with it, and to ensure the road is clear of debris to prevent further incident.”
