Cllr Colin McGrath said: ‘This issue is impacting locals as well as visitors who find access to the local beauty spot difficult after small amounts of rain.

“The car park loses up to half its spaces when rainwater flooding causes visitors to literally have to wade their way towards the beach.

“The space is one of a number of special spots along our coastline at the mouth of Strangford Lough which can be enjoyed by visitors, tourists and locals alike but this matter of flooding is putting some people off from using the spot.

“I have asked council officials to investigate the matter and resolve the flooding problem so the area can be fully used in the future.”
