Cllr McGrath is concerned at bin collection provbvlems at St John’s Crescent in Downpatrick.[/caption] Commenting, Cllr McGrath said: “There appears to be a problem with the refuse collection in the John’s Crescent area which is resulting in bins not being collected on time or at all in the town centre cul-de-sac. “I am quite worried that a number of problems appear to be occurring of late with refuse collections in some difficult-to-collect areas and I need to meet with senior council officials to determine what the change in circumstance has been. “Previously difficult collections – such as the one at John’s Crescent which is quite narrow and one car can block the lorry from entering the street – always were resolved but now the attitude seems to be to let the ratepayer find the solution. This often is asking them to bring their bins to the end of their streets which is unacceptable. “I have entered into discussions with the Director of Environmental Services to find a resolution to this particular matter and to assess the apparent change in approach to refuse collections which is leaving ratepayers short.”]]>
