Mayobridge Players To Head For The Dingle LIDL Peile

Mayobridge players to take part in 36th LIDL Comórtas Peile Páidí Ó Sé Football Festival

Mayobridge senior men’s team will compete in the Dermot Earley senior men’s cup at the Lidl Comórtas Peile Páidí Ó Sé 2025, the famed club ladies and men’s Gaelic football tournament, taking place all across the Dingle Peninsula on Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd of February 2025.

Mayobridge are in the four-team straight knock-out senior men’s cup semi-final against Listowel Emmets of Kerry and should they progress they will play the final against either Ballyroan Abbey of Laois or Carrigaline of Cork.

14 counties from the four provinces of Ireland will take part in the 36th edition of the Lidl Comórtas Peile Páidí Ó Sé, with 28 adult men’s and ladies club teams coming for a weekend of competitive football and social events including popular Irish band Super Céilí at Páidí Ó Sé’s pub in Ventry, West Kerry.

A recent research study by Lidl revealed ahead of the 2025 Lidl National Leagues said 42% of Irish public more likely to attend female games to watch a high-profile player.

The Comórtas certainly helps that statistic every year, the cream of GAA club football descend on West Kerry and this year sees many championship winning teams competing as well as many inter-county players on show once again which enhances the quality of football.

The football festival, which was founded by eight-time All-Ireland winner Páidí Ó Sé, is supported by Lidl Ireland, EJ Menswear, Kerry County Council Tourism Unit, Medel Healthcare, Dooctor.ie, Fáilte Ireland and Údarás na Gaeltachta, and has attracted over 30,000 club players since it was founded in 1989.

Comórtas Chairman, Pádraig Óg Ó Sé said: “We welcome Carrigaline to West Kerry for the Comórtas.

“About 500 players and also mentors and supporters are in full planning mode to kick off their season with a weekend away and we are ready with social events and craic around Comórtas HQ Páidí Ó Sé’s pub and of course football lovers can also expect some great competitive matches over the weekend.
