Man Arrested In Dundrum After Burglary

Police Arrest Man In Dundrum Following A Number Of Burglary Attempts And Other Charges

A 31-year old man has been arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including burglary and common assault following a number of reports of burglary and attempted burglary in Dundrum.

At around 8pm on Monday 27 October a householder returned to his Church Avenue home to find an unknown man inside.

The resident confronted the intruder, who brandished garden shears and struck out at the victim whilst attempting to make his escape via an alleyway to the rear of the property.

A description of the suspect was circulated to responding police patrols and the arrest was made a short time later.

A number of further reports were then also received from the occupants of three properties in the Main Street area who awoke this morning to discover attempts had been made to enter homes and outbuildings.

A vehicle parked at one of the addresses was also entered and rifled through.

Detectives are investigating a link between all of the reports.

The arrested man remains in custody this afternoon.

Detectives would like to hear from anyone with information and from those who may have captured footage of any kind in the area that could potentially assist their enquiries.
