TWO magical showpieces are set to light up the stage at Belfast Waterfront: Puccini’s Madama Butterfly on Tuesday 1 November and The Nutcracker on Wednesday 2 November. One of the world’s most popular operas, Puccini’s Madama Butterfly tells the heart-breaking story of the beautiful young Japanese girl who falls in love with an American naval lieutenant – with dramatic results. Musical highlights of Madama Butterfly include the melodic Humming Chorus, the moving aria, One Fine Day and the unforgettable Love Duet. Madama Butterfly is sung in Italian with English surtitles. Performed by the internationally acclaimed Moscow Ballet – La Classique and set to Tchaikovsky’s magical music, The Nutcracker is one of the jewels of classical ballet. Toys come to life, mice are the villains and all things are possible in a magical kingdom beyond imagination in this truly timeless tale for all the family. The Moscow Ballet – La Classique features dancers from the leading theatres of the Commonwealth of Independent States countries and the Bolshoi, Kirov and Ballet Theatres of Kiev and Odessa.
