Love In The Aisles At Asda Downpatrick

To make this Valentine’s Day extra-special, Asda is celebrating its colleagues who have found love in the supermarket aisles – including one special couple from the Downpatrick store.

ASDA Downpatrick colleagues Gemma and John Watters, celebrating 40 years of marriage, get into the St Valentine’s Day mood in the aisles.

Collectively, John and Gemma Watters who both work as checkout colleagues have clocked-up 28 years at Asda – with Gemma having worked in Asda Downpatrick for the past 22 years, and John joining her instore six years ago.

However, the big anniversary that the couple will be celebrating this year will be 40 years of marriage – so it looks like mixing business and pleasure is the perfect recipe for marital bliss!

Ahead of Valentine’s Day, John and Gemma said: “We are really looking forward to celebrating our Ruby wedding anniversary this December with our family and friends. It will be a wonderful day to look back on all the happy times we have shared together, including the great years we have spent working alongside each other as Asda colleagues.”

Simon Fisher, Asda Downpatrick General Store Manager, added: “On the most romantic day of the year, what better way to celebrate than with John and Gemma who love working together at Asda.

“Our shelves are packed with a fantastic range of Valentine’s products, including cuddly toys and dine-in deals for two – so there are plenty of options for local couples to treat each other to the perfect gift this year. Congratulations to John and Gemma ahead of their big anniversary, and we hope they share many more happy years together!”
