Lead Thieves Strike At Downpatrick’s Flying Horse

dn_screenThieves have stolen lead flashing from homes in the Glebetown area of Downpatrick.

Police have issued an appeal for information after lead was stolen from a considerable number of houses in the Glebetown Drive, Killough Walk and Ardilea Park areas of Downpatrick.

It was reported that lead had been taken from roofs and around windows of the properties yesterday (Wednesday 18 January).

The first incident was reported to Police at around 6.36pm. Police have asked anyone who can help with enquiries to contact Police on the 101 number quoting reference number 793 of 18.1.17. Alternatively information about crime can be passed anonymously via the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.

A local resident speaking to Down News who wished to remain anonymous said there were dozens of homes affected.

A team of police interviewers arrived today and started to talk to local residents to try and establish who had removed the lead flashing near the roofs of the houses. An NIHE team also arrived and started assessing the damage which will run into thousands of pounds to repair.
