Over 500 Attend First “Lamb & Local” Food Fayre in Katesbridge
More than 500 people flocked to Shanaghan Hill Farm on Saturday 23 August for the inaugural “Lamb & Local” food fayre, the first event of its kind in the village, celebrating local farming, food and community.
Hosted by farmers Esther Skelly-Smith and her husband Timothy, the event placed a spotlight on naturally reared,100% grass-fed Shanaghan Hill Farm lamb, alongside a showcase of fifteen local food producers.
Esther said: “We were overwhelmed by the turnout. It was fantastic to welcome so many people to our farm.
“This event was about more than food: it was about connecting people with where their food comes from, and celebrating the incredible local producers we have.”
Timothy added: “All our lambs are born and reared here at Shanaghan Hill Farm.

“We are committed to regenerative farming, high animal welfare and farming without artificial inputs.
“Selling direct through our lamb boxes – half or whole lamb – allows families to enjoy healthy, sustainable food straight from the farm.”
Council and UFU Support the Local Katesbridge Food Fayre
The event was supported by the Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council Food Heartland and the Ulster Farmers’ Union.

“Events like this remind us that when we choose local, we’re investing in our heritage, our rural economy, and the future of sustainable, ethical food production.
“Together, we’re nurturing a resilient local food system that supports our environment, uplifts our businesses, and nourishes all of us.”
