Kimmins announces £575,000 road improvement scheme for B7 Ballynahinch Road, Crossgar
Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced that a £575,000 carriageway resurfacing of the Ballynahinch Road, Crossgar, will commence on Monday 21 July 2025.xa0
The 1.8 kilometre resurfacing scheme will extend along the Ballynahinch Rd, Crossgar from the Saintfield Rd/Ballynahinch Rd junction to a point 200 metres east of Church Rd junction.
Infrastructure Minister Kimmins said:xa0“This substantial investment of £575,000 for Crossgar will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users who travel through this area and demonstrates my commitment to improving our road network, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities.
“I would like to thank residents, local businesses and commuters for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out.”
To facilitate the scheme, it will be necessary to implement a road closure, Monday to Friday, to facilitate drainage and kerbing works from Monday 21 July 2025 to Friday 22 August, daily from 8am to 6pm
In addition, a full road closure will also be required to facilitate carriageway re-surfacing work.
These closures will be in place Monday to Fridays, from Monday 25 August to Friday 19 September, daily from 9.30am to 4pm. The road will be open to traffic overnight and at weekends.
During these periods of closure, a diversion will be in place via:

The Department has carefully programmed the work operations and traffic management arrangements to minimise inconvenience.
owever, whilst steps have been taken to accommodate local access for residents and local bus services, road users should expect some delays and are advised to allow additional time when travelling in the vicinity of the works. Road users are asked to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions.xa0
Subject to favourable weather conditions, the works are anticipated to be complete by Friday 19 September 2025. The Department will however keep the public informed of any change.
