Singing his way through the Covid pandemic with gusto bringing a cheer to many, Killyleagh singer Conal Montgomery is once again providing a collection of songs about his home town on his new album ‘The Corner Stone’.

Conal has done a large number of gigs for mental health charities and started off the pandemic singing songs for people on Facebook in singalong sessions.

He said: “I will be releasing my second album, The Corner Stone, on Friday 20th May 2022. The album is a collection of songs written mostly about my hometown in Killyleagh, County Down and the people past and present who have lived there.

“It takes in the beautiful surroundings of the seaside town and reminisces about my youth. Also, on the album are some songs co-written with a few friends who provided lyrics, thoughts and feelings which i took and turned to song. The album is in a folk/country genre and was recorded and produced by an old school friend and award winning songwriter Gerard Dornan in his Hillside Studio in Loughinisland.

“I will be showcasing the album with some local album launch gigs, the first of which will be in The Dufferin Arms Killyleagh on Thursday evening 9th of June from 9pm and entry is FREE.

“Other dates will follow hoping to take in Crossgar, Downpatrick and Newcastle”.

Conal added: “A Belfast date and venue will also be announced soon and will be under the guidance of broadcaster Robin Elliott of NVTV and Belfast 247 Radio.

“I will also be putting on a full day of music in The Dufferin Coaching Inn and Hall in Killyleagh called ‘The Corner Stone Music Fest’ on Saturday 16th July. This show will showcase all the local musical talent young and old that our district and beyond has to offer.

“The event has already sold out and all proceeds will go to Life Change Changes Lives, a mental health charity in Downpatrick.

“On the bill we have Charlie Hanlon, Zac Mac, Maddison Rafferty, Nicky Brown, Dee Hanna, Kevin and Sharon Young, Every March, Stillwater and the Hungry Ghosts, Sweetleaf and plus more.

“The album will be available on all major platforms and CDs and can be purchased through Conal Montgomery Music on Facebook or Conal Montgomery Bandcamp.
