The Killough Road has been granted a £190,000 road improvement.

Transport Minister Danny Kennedy announcing the road improvements on the B176 Killough Road explained that the resurfacing scheme will extend for around a kilometre stretch of the road from the Grange Road junction towards Downpatrick. The scheme is expected to be complete by 15 August.

Minister Kennedy said: “This £190,000 scheme represents a significant investment in the roads infrastructure in the Killough area.

“Once work is complete, road users will quickly realise the long term benefits from the new road surface along the stretch.

”

To help ensure the safety of road users and contractors it will be necessary to close the Killough Road from Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm from Monday 30 June to Friday 11 July and again from Monday 28 July to Friday 15 August 2014.

“All diversions will be clearly sign posted.

The Department has planned to keep disruption to a minimum, however, delays should be expected and drivers are advised to allow additional time when travelling in the area.

“In the unlikely event of a change to the schedule the Department will publicise any revisions.
