Kilkeel Medical Practice continues says the Department of Health
The Department of Health can confirm that the Southern Health and Social Care Trust has agreed to continue managing Kilkeel Medical Practice on a temporary basis.
The Trust had been managing the practice on a temporary basis providing surgeries and medical services from 1st November 2023 until 31 March 2024, following the resignation of the previous GP partners.
Kilkeel Medical Practice had a year ago flagged up the difficulties to the DoH but because of the continued pressures and GP recruitment failure, finally had to give up their contract.
Down News understands that at the heart of the problem was a difficulty in recruiting new GPs.
Patients do not need to take any action and should continue to contact the practice as normal says the Department of Health. Services will run as normal.
