Kilkeel Fishermen’s Mission Members Receive Awards

Civic Reception for Leslie Hammond and Ingrid Perry of Fishermen’s Mission Kilkeel

Newry Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Pete Byrne, presents Ingrid Perry and Leslie Hammond from Kilkeel with a Civic Award in recognition of the selfless work they carry out on behalf of fishermen and their families.

Both ladies are stalwart members of the Fishermen’s Mission based in Kilkeel. They provide support and comfort to the families and friends of fishermen who have been lost at sea and to foreign fishermen and those who have fallen on hard times for whatever reason and and they sign-post them to the relevant agencies they may require.

Ingrid and Leslie were nominated by Mournes Area Councillor Henry Reilly and they received their Civic Awards on Friday 6 December in the Council Offices in Monaghan Row, Newry.   

Chairperson Newry, Mourne and Down Council, Councillor Pete Byrne welcomed Ingrid Perry and Leslie Hammond to the Council offices at Monaghan Row in Newry to recognise their work in the Fishermen’s Mission especially the welfare work they carry out for fishermen across the three fishing ports in County Down. Councillor Henry Reilly nominated Ingrid and Lesie for a Civic Award and they were each presented with an inscribed crystal vase.
