Alliance Strangford MLA Kieran McCarthy has expressed his condolences following the death of a 44-year old man in a road accident on the Ballygowan Road in Saintfieldxa0on Mondayxa0morning. No other vehicle was involved.
Mr McCarthy said: “I was very saddened to hear that another life has been lost on our roads. I would like to express my condolences to the family and friends of this man. His family must be devastated by this horrific news.
“I am very concerned that this is the sixth road death in 2014. However, it is encouraging that the Environment Minister is taking action over these deaths by organising a meeting of the Road Safety Forum.
“I would urge all road users to take extra precautions when out on the road to ensure that no more lives are lost.”
