The Trust established a connection with Kiwoko Hospital in Uganda in 2006.

Since then, numerous staff have fundraised and travelled to Kiwoko, sharing their expertise and offering support to the staff.

The Trust’s Chairman adopted the Friends of Kiwoko Hospital as his chosen charity, strengthening the long-standing partnership.

Kerry took on the momentous challenge to raise funds for Kiwoko Hospital in Uganda.

Having visited Kiwoko Hospital in October 2024, Kerry shared how she felt inspired to fundraise and tick off the bucket list her trek to Everest Base Camp.

“Trekking to Everest has been on my ‘to do’ list for the last five years, said Kerry.

“I thought, why not combine both it and fundraise for Kiwoko. Thanks to the generosity of friends, colleagues and family I was able to raise just over £3,000.”

From Millisle, Kerry explained how she took on the challenge of a lifetime, navigating challenging terrain and high altitudes over several days to reach base camp on 13 October 2025.

She said: “The weather and attitude was a particular challenge at the higher levels due to the recent unseasonable snow fall.

“The Himalayas are stunningly beautiful and the Nepalese people also reflect the beauty of their surroundings.

“I just want to say a huge thank you to all who donated to the fundraising drive for such an incredible and worthwhile cause.”
