The serious side of golf will certainly have a funny side at the Irish Open in Newcastle as Newry, Mourne and Down District Council are delighted that Dundrum xa0comedian Patrick Kielty will be the headline act for the comedy nights at the Irish Open Fringe Festival.
The Council are organising a number of events throughout the week in Newcastle town from Monday 25 to Sunday 31 May. These events are being put on for people in town for the golf and for others who are looking for an alternative.

Dundrum comedian Patrick Kielty up to his tricks again at the launch of the Irish Open Fringe festival in Newcastle. Patrick Kielty will start off the comedy nights which are being held on Friday and Saturday night from 6.45pm. Lurgan legend Micky Bartlett will warm up the crowd as we await the arrival of popular Dundrum man Patrick Kielty.
On Saturday night Northern Ireland’s Queen of Comedy, May McFettridge will be sure to have people laughing out loud. May’s support is the cast of a new exciting Opera LoveGolffLove, written by Brian Irvine and presented by Northern Ireland opera.
