2021 Ards and North Down Job Fair Goes Virtual.

2021 Ards and North Down Job Fair Goes Virtual.

This year’s Ards and North Down Job Fair is going virtual for the first time!

Hosted by the Department for Communities and supported by Ards and North Down Borough Council, the Virtual Job Fair will be held on Thursday 25 March from 10am to 2pm and registration is now open for the free-to-attend event.

Communities Minister Deirdre Hargey.

The virtual programme has been introduced as an alternative to physical job fairs which have been suspended due to Covid-19 restrictions, with Ards and North Down’s job fair offering the chance to meet employers who are actively recruiting.

Communities Minister, Deirdre Hargey, said: “Each year my Department hosts a series of face-to-face job fairs which bring together a wide range of employers and jobseekers to showcase available employment opportunities.

“However, due to the challenges faced by the Covid-19 pandemic these have had to be suspended.

“After exploring alternatives to physical events, I have progressed this innovative digital approach to assisting jobseekers which will allow opportunities to be accessed virtually.”

Jobseekers will be able to discuss employment opportunities in a variety of sectors including hospitality, manufacturing, recruitment, customer service, government and more. They will be able to choose which employers or organisations to visit, view suitable vacancies, and connect with individual employers directly for details and advice.

Attendees will also be able to improve their skills for getting a job, find out about the available training and employment programmes, and chat to support organisations including South Eastern Regional College (SERC), disability organisations, the NI Careers Service and Ards and North Down local enterprise agencies.

Mayor of Ards and North Down Borough Council, Cllr Trevor Cimmings, launches the virtual job fair.

The Mayor of Ards and North Down, Councillor Trevor Cummings, said: “Our Virtual Job Fair will help to open new doors for businesses and jobseekers in Ards and North Down.

“The past year has been extremely challenging for everyone so this is a great opportunity for jobseekers to fine-tune their CVs and make contact with potential new employers.”
