Islandderry To Run All Night Fly Fishing Competition

BOTH lakes at Islandderry Fishery, Dromore, are fishing well with a selection of flies catching including Buzzers, Orange Blobs and Nymphs.

10-year old Mark Neilly, Portadown, netted 5 trout on the Hollow Springs Lake on Saturday using Nymphs and hooking into two fish on the one cast. xa0Mark managed to land both fish, with a little help from Dad Darrell.

[caption id="attachment_24897" align="alignleft" width="334" caption="Ten year old Mark Reilly with his two rainbow trout caught on the one cast."][/caption] Young Ben Nixon, Dromore tried his hand at fly fishing for the first time and ended up catching 10 trout on a Orange Blob while brothers Andrew and David Rea from Banbridge released 16 trout between them fishing Buzzers and Blobs.

Jay Pinion was fishing Blobs on a floating line to release 5 trout.xa0 The Main Lake is fishing well in the evenings to a Dry Sedge with Sam Alexander, Banbridge, landing 12 trout in a couple of hours from the jetty, with some nice trout around the 4/6lbs xa0mark.

The next competition is the annual All Night Competition & BBQ on both lakes this Saturday 18 June.xa0 The competition runs from 7pm to 7am and always proves to be a good nights craic.

The fishery isxa0 holding a Under-16 summer league on the Hollow Springs Lake (fly fishing only) which will start on Saturday 25th June at 10am.
