Invest NI Under Scrutiny Over Lack Of South Down Foreign Investment

Lack of Local Invest NI Foreign Investment Visits.

Invest NI has come under intense scrutiny over the last couple of months after it was revealed that there is a lack of foreign investment to the Newry Mourne and Down District Council area.

The figures have shown that only five foreign direct investment visits took place in Newry and Armagh and zero in South Down with Belfast having 634 out of 741 visits resulting in 85% of foreign direct investment visits.

With Brexit looming and a like Covid-19 recession forecast, it seems that invest NI has been labelled as too Belfast-centric. We are living in uncertain times many people find hard to adjust to living in lockdown. When in months to come the Coronavirus threat dissipates, the health of local economy will be a major focal point in the months and years ahead with all parts of Northern Ireland expecting help from central Government and organisations such as Invest NI.
