Hit The Road With Ring of Gullion Heritage Coach Tours

The Ring of Gullion Coach Tours will travel through the rolling hills of South Armagh and visit important built heritage sites along the way during August 2017.

The Ring of Gullion Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is a unique geological landform, unparalleled elsewhere in Ireland or the UK. It has a mysterious reputation from its associations with legends and the wider area’s rich archaeological heritage.

It was over these fields and mountains that Cúchulainn and the Red Branch Knights, the O’Neills and the O’Hanlons roamed, battled and died. The Ring of Gullion is alive with history, awash in scenic beauty and bursting with culture.

The coach tours are guided by Una Walsh and will leave Bagenal’s Castle, Newry at 10.30am and return at 4.30pm every Wednesday and Saturday in August.

The Ring of Gullion Lúnasa Festival will also be running throughout the month of August in South Armagh and activities will range from drop-in craft workshops to weekend-long celebrations. Visitors will be able to take in cooking, hiking, geology, history and art during the festival.

Newry Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Roisin Mulgrew said: “The Ring of Gullion Heritage Coach Tour is a great introduction to this area, a hidden gem in the North of Ireland. Some of the tours are already booked up, so get booking your seat before it is too late. Every year, we are inundated with positive reviews for the tours.”

Tickets start at £12 for adults and concessions are available. Booking is essential. For more information and to book visit ringofgullion.org
