Hinch 5’s Too Strong for Donaghadee 2’s

Ballynahinch 5s v Donaghadee 2s – 01 Dec 12

Ballynahinch 68 – 0 Donaghadee

Peter Shaw reporting from Ballymacarn Park.

Ballynahicnh 5’s turned out against Donaghadee 2s struggling with injury worries, particularly due to their regular out-half Richard McKelvey having undergone recent knee surgery.xa0 Admirably, Robbie Irvine filled the void with great aplomb, fitting comfortably into the half-back partnership with ease. Quick thinking saw him twice put in excellent cross field kicks to pin point accuracy for Peter Bell to cross the white wash.

Throughout the match, great work from the forwards in the scrums and line-outs saw Hinch retain their own ball and put it to good use in their backs division as they ran riot through an increasingly demoralised Donaghadee 2nd XV. Calvin Morton, Robbie Irvine and Emlyn Williams crossed for tries with Peter Bell crossing the line a further two times before the end of the 1st half.

The second half started with the Donaghadee defence tightened up after taking a long hard look at themselves at half-time. Hinch fought back hard allowing seeing the backs cross the line a further three times.xa0 Chris Bishop danced his way through the Donaghadee backs in a move that even Craig Gilroy would be proud of, followed by Davy Patterson crossing in the corner and Tim ”the poacher” McKee finished off the rout by popping up on the wing to finish off the scoring.
