Health Campaigners Launch Petition To Save The Downe Hospital A&E

A group of members of the Down Community Health Committee are organising a petition in protest at the reduction of service at the Accident and Emergency unit at the Downe Hospital.

A steering group met last Thursday night to plan the petition which will be formally launched next Tuesday night at a meeting in St Mary’s High School, Ardglass Road, Downpatrick.

The group is being chaired by Mrs Ann Trainor who has been an enthusiastic supporter of local healthcare provision for many years.xa0 Her late father, Mr Sean L Quinn, was one of the foremost health campaigners in the area.

Signatures will be collected at key locations across the district.xa0 An e-petition is also being organised.

Publicxa0 expressions of support for the restoration of the 24-hour, seven day a week service at the Downe is being expressed on the Downe Hospital 24-hour a nd e Facebook page, which has now attracted approximately 6,500 Likes or expressions of support.
