Sinn Féin’s Chris Hazzard MP has welcomed the completion of a new play park in Drumaness.

The South Down MP said: “In recent years my Sinn Féin colleagues in Newry Mourne and Down Council have been to the fore in lobbying for improved play facilities across the district – especially in rural villages such as Drumaness – so the completion of this new play park in Cumber Grove is great news for local families.

“I want to thank the Council for working in partnership with the local community to develop this play facility and it was great to see so many local families engaging with a recent community consultation process to help design the park.
Mr Hazzard added:

“Whilst this is great news for local families in Drumaness, the new Council must now endeavour to address a lack of play facilities in neighbouring areas also.

“For too long now local families in neighbouring Loughinisland and Teconnaught have been left with no play facilities at all – this gap in play provision must be tackled in the next Council mandate.”
