Chris Hazzard, South Down MLA, has welcomed news that a bus shelter which he had been campaigning for on behalf of residents in Loughinisland village is to be completed this week.

He said: “We in Sinn Féin did a walk about in the village some time ago and have been lobbying Council ever since to have the shelter put in place. Previously there was no shelter for local or school children to avail of when waiting for public transport “The shelter will be erected outside the local Primary school and will provide much needed shelter from the elements as we progress into the Winter months. “I congratulate Down Council officials for their efforts over the past few months. I’m very grateful to them for having this structure erected so quickly after my request and indeed before the end of summer term. “I hope this addition to the village will encourage local people to make more use of public transport,”  added Mr Hazzard.]]>
